Coupling grease fill calculator

Falk Steelflex® T-Series and Lifelign® G-Series factory grease requirements, or a manual annular void volume with key-slot deduction; fill percentage to mass with over-packing warning at ≥60% fill. Dry-coupling replacement suggestions matched by torque capacity.

Manual mode uses annular void geometry with a key-slot deduction.

Coupling Grease Fill
Falk Steelflex® grid couplings require periodic re-greasing. Use Mobilgrease XTC (Falk LTG is rebranded Mobilgrease XTC). Inspect annually — re-grease at inspection or when connected equipment is opened for service.

Engineering Basis

T-Series grease fills: Falk Steelflex® catalog data. Container quantity based on 14-oz cartridges.

G-Series grease fills: Falk LTG spec sheet Form 840201D (grease lb) + Falk Lifelign catalog 451-110 (bore, torque, speed). Container guidance scales cartridge → 35-lb pail → 120-lb keg.

Amerigear Series F grease fills: Zurn/Ameridrives Amerigear catalog P-1819-AC (6/15): grease lb per coupling (p.46), max bore with square key and torque (pp.8–9) and standard max speed (p.34). Series FS (flex-rigid) uses one-half the listed quantity. Grease: one meeting the intent of AGMA 9001; check and relubricate at least once a year.

Manual calculation: Annular void = (π/4) × (OD² − ID²) × L, with optional key-slot void deduction. Fill percentage × void volume × grease density = mass. Warning displayed at ≥60% fill (over-packing risk).

Dry alternatives: Rexnord Thomas 54RDG (stainless disc), Lovejoy L/C-Type (NBR jaw), Tsubaki A-Series (urethane jaw), Dodge Para-Flex (natural rubber tire), Atra-Flex Millennium/T-Flex (jaw/insert), SKF Jaw, FRC, Flex (tyre) and W6 disc (SKF Couplings catalog 2018; metric values converted at 8.8507 lb-in/Nm and 25.4 mm/in) — torque-capacity match only; verify bore, speed, and misalignment before substituting.
